POINTS
TO PONDER
"Points to Ponder" shows the main areas within the Christian life which
should be acknowledged and worked at sufficiently to enable the believer
to live as full a life as possible in service to God. Only by addressing
these issues will the Christian be able to truly follow Jesus and live,
as Smith Wigglesworth described it: "None of me - all of God".
1."Not
my will but Thine be done". (1): God is the
only owner of all things and all creatures. We, as created beings, can
only be "stewards". To assume we are owners is to refuse to acknowledge
God's absolute lordship. As the realization of this fact begins to
grow, one understands the real need to die to the deception of "me" and
"mine" - that fundamental lie which fools us into believing we must be
lords of our own lives and puts "pride of self" on the throne instead of
God. That was Satan's downfall when, as Lucifer, he raised himself
up against God and rebelled. The Word says:, "How art thou fallen from
heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, 'I
will
ascend into heaven, I
will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I
will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I
will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I
will
be like the most High'. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the
sides of the pit."(2) ("I"
emphasis mine).
2.The
Deliverance Ministry: As a Christian
grows into the True Life he or she has to face the fact that there is a
lot of garbage left behind from the old life. Some of that garbage is in
the form of fears, bondages, traumas; some of it originating from 'way
back as far as childhood. Also, since Satan was the original father of
the unsaved person, you can be sure he had set up jailors within the life
of that person. Those demonic beings need to be kicked out and kept out.
Not for nothing did Jesus warn: ". . .When an evil spirit comes out
of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it
finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes
and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they
go in and live there, and the final condition of that man is worse than
the first.(3). At times God sovereignly breaks or casts out fears and/or
bondages etc., or evil spirits but usually the scripturally-taught way
is for a person to be counseled and prayed with to determine, perhaps,
how such situations came about and how to properly deal with them. Thus
the need for a Deliverance Ministry within the church.
3. Special
Ministries: Whilst the ministries of Apostle,
Evangelist and Pastor are widely accepted within the Body of Christ, the
ministries of Teacher and Prophet have been sorely neglected. ". . it was
he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists,
and some to be pastors and teachers. . "(4). For a Christian
to grow fully and function fully, all of the ministries need to be flourishing
within a church. I am convinced that the devil has, from the very beginning
of the Church, come especially against the roles of Prophet and Teacher.
If he cannot prevent a person from being born again he will do his utmost
to keep him from receiving sound teaching or true insight into what is
really happening in his/her own life, in the world or within the church
(a prophet's role). The ministry of Teacher contains not only interpretive
knowledge of the scriptures but "revelatory teaching" - understanding of
God's Word through direct communication by God's Holy Spirit. Such teaching
brings the "rhema" (a full personal grasp of God's Word in its direct affect
on a person's life). That kind of teaching is closely allied to prophetic
teaching and is largely missing from Christian churches today.
4. The
Truth about the World-Belief-System: This
is, to my mind, the most closely guarded secret throughout the centuries.
I have touched but lightly on it in this web site. The true nature of that
system, how it is run and by whom, is vital knowledge for the dedicated
Christian if he or she is to ". . fight the good fight . ." (1 Tim.6:12).
One can more easily defeat an enemy if that enemy's war plans and strategies
are fully known. An understanding of just how this planet is ruled by Satan
(5), is essential. This knowledge is reserved for revelatory teaching within
the Body of Christ.
The above 4 points form, to my mind, the 4 main pillars of true Christianity.
Revealing them in this very limited fashion is simply the " skeleton "
of Christian living. Much more has to be done to complete the "whole being"
of scriptural living and "breathe life into it." That takes place through
God-directed teachings, counselings, ministerings etc., which, ideally,
should be readily available within the Body of Christ but, sadly, for the
most part, are not. Such work is, however, central to my own life and all
I live for is to promote it by God's grace as best I can.
So. . . how may I say "adieu" for the present except by asking for
God's guidance and protection over you as you pursue this path and pray,
with all of my heart: "The LORD bless you
and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to
you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." (6)
God bless you. . . . .Charles.
