(Opening the Door to the True Life)

EPILOGUE:"I was blind but now I see".
WHO BURIED THE TREASURE ?. . .GUESS WHO DUG IT UP !

                  Pirates usually bury treasure but in their case it's stolen treasure.It belongs to somebody else. The Real Treasure of True Life was first buried at the Beginning of Times by the greatest pirate of all - the Great Deceiver, the Liar, Lucifer, as he was originally called but now called Satan, the Adversary (1). About 2,000 years ago, the Real Treasure of  True Life was recovered and buried again in a time capsule by God's Messenger. He was sent to recover God's Treasure, stolen from Him by  Satan.
                 Name him what you will, a pirate by any other name is still a pirate. Captain Hook is still a crook and the original Hook, i.e. Satan, buried his stolen treasure deep inside death and deception. But God hooked him good and proper and took back His Treasure and who else could He trust to do the job right but he who is dearest to His own Heart, His only Son, Jesus (2). Jesus knew fine well where the Treasure lay buried, why and how it had been stolen in the first place, and exactly how he would retrieve it (3).
                 Getting to buried treasure isn't that easy. It's always in a virtually inaccessible place and always guarded by all sorts of frightful things and, of course, it costs a lot to get there. Also, not everyone is up to just hoofing off after buried treasure, even if they do happen to have a map. After all it isn't everyone who has the blood and guts to go where dragons dwell, far from convenience stores and coke machines, especially when the dragon guarding the treasure is Satan  (4). Besides, it took someone special to retrieve the Treasure, someone willing to pay the price - the only one able to pay the price (5). No mortal man could pay the price because EVERY HUMAN BEING IS THE TREASURE and that treasure cannot dig itself up. It had to be dug up by someone else, someone who had a perfect right to the treasure, and mankind, like the buried treasure, was lost through deception, buried away from its rightful Owner's gaze, far away from His palace and kingdom. That's why no man can find his True Self through any effort or work of his own, not through great disciplines or whippings or mortifications or mental and physical exercises or through bowing down to the deceiving whisperings of another human being or kissing his feet and hands and thinking he's God's greatest gift to humanity (6). If he's only human he is immediately debarred from such idiocies.
                       Only someone who had not been blinded and deceived himself, who could come from outside of the deception and pay the price, could be the One who would free the human race (7). That Only One is Jesus. He did the job, completely, and for almost 2,000 years the Message with all of the details, legalized, stamped, notarized in Heaven by Almighty God Himself, witnessed by millions of angels and in particular by old Captain Hook and all of his motley bunch, has lain buried in God's Time Capsule, called His Word, until now, waiting to be opened by whoever wants to find it. He who seeks the Treasure will surely find it because his search and all it entails has, unknown to him (or her) already been funded and arranged for by the King Himself. He wants you to find the Treasure and the only way you can find it is through Jesus..
                  He is the Way. He is the Truth. He is the Life. (8). There is no other way. "There is salvation in and  through no one else for there is no other name under  heaven given to men by which we must be saved"(9).Jesus said, "I am the door. Anyone who enters in  through Me will be saved, will live . . . He who does  not enter in by the door into the sheepfold, but  climbs up by another way, is a thief and a robber"(10). One of God's children, having found the treasure of his True Life, put it like this,"Whoever calls upon  the name of the Lord will be saved" (11).
                 God's Word, commonly called the "Bible", is actually God speaking to man and the message central to it is the revealing of how we were stolen from Him so long ago, how He planned to get us back and how He accomplished His plan successfully.The first understanding of  "dying to the False self" was expressed by Jesus in these amazing words to a good, law-abiding religious leader called Nicodemus who paid Jesus a secret visit in the middle of the night because he wasn't sure if Jesus was really some kind of space cadet or not. Jesus told him, "I tell you this, 'Unless you are born again ,you  can never get into the Kingdom of God"(12). That means FAMILY, and just to clarify the situation a bit better regarding He Himself being the Door to the True Life He went on, "For God loved the world so  much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who  believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (13). From the record, it looks like Nicky went for the gold (14).
            So as we sit by our cozy fire, with snowflakes gently falling outside our windows, we open the old, weather-worn, age-bound Book, carefully, hardly daring to breathe. We turn its pages, wondering where to begin, what to read, will we understand what it says. A stillness settles in the air all around us and a peace begins to gently ease into our bones. The fire's flickering lights fade. We find ourselves listening to an old, white-haired man, muttering these words as he writes laboriously on parchment, ". . .There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came to bear witness that Jesus Christ is  the True Light, that all might believe . . ."(15).
              ". . . Once upon a Time, when the world was young, very young, there was joy in the Earth and  music everywhere. It was the Beginning of Times and  the first God'sman looked around and knew it was his  and it was good. Until . . . one day, so quietly did it  come. . . a shadow, crawling and creeping, slipped its   lying way into his very heart . . . and Darkness fell  upon the Earth . . . and man began to die . . ."
                  This is your Time, my friend. Now you know what happened, what was done about it and Who to call out to. His name is Jesus and He's right there, where you are, right now. Talk to Him. Ask Him to make you His. Tell Him you want to come home, to Him, that you are sorry for all of the selfish, sinful things you did when you were lord of your old, self-centered life, that, at last, you're beginning to understand the true nature of things. Tell God you are rejecting the lies of that lying devil Satan, as Jesus called him (16), and you want to turn away from your old life, that you want to die to your old False Self with its dead-life and to be born again into your True Life, into God's family as His child.
                 Ask Jesus into your life. He's waiting. Tell Him. Tell Jesus  you want Him to be your True Lord and Savior once and for all and in this very moment you will be able to truly say to Him, "I'm coming home, Jesus, right now. Here I come! Here I come! Thank You, God. Thank You, Father. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You."

              Example of Homecoming Prayer.

      Dear God, Thank you for making the way home so clear and so simple. With all of my heart I believe You. So right here and now I say to You,  "I am truly sorry for what I now know was sin in my life. I  truly repent of every self-centered and selfish thought and action and of living as lord of my own life. Through Your grace and help I now turn away from that life. I  also reject you, Satan, and all of your deceptions. God, please forgive me of all of my sins and take away my sin nature.  Jesus, come into my life right now as my True Lord and Savior.
                        Take me with You now, through that door of dying to self, and please raise me up into my  New Life in Your family, as Your born-again child. And when that is done, please, Holy Spirit - Spirit of Jesus, fill me with Your wonderful love and Your power to live that New Life to the full.*
                          I do believe Your Word and I thank You, God, that now I will be able to call You my True Father. All praise and glory to You, Lord God."(Obviously you may wish to use words of your own personal choice.The above simply illustrates one way of validly opening the Door to the True Life according to God's directions.).
