No.8: Power Is Simply The Expression Of Who You Truly Are.

True power belongs to God. There can be only One God, One Truth, One Life. Whatever is, comes from God. Nothing else matters. From this One Truth springs all truth, all that matters, all that is worth living for. Life without God has no meaning. As a matter of fact we cannot escape from God. Hell is, in various ways, being unable to be with God whilst needing to be with Him. To be able to be truly with God or in tune with Him is Absolute Bliss.
If we are not at peace we are not in tune with God. Suffering is the name given to a condition which demonstrates our being in one way or another at odds with God, whether in a small way or in a big way. Our constant yearning for inner peace comes from our original spiritually genetic identification with God.
Each person is, originally, made "in the image of God" (1). When we look around us at ugliness and deformity, whether of body or mind or situation, we see the distortion of God's creation foisted on mankind. If we look only at the outer appearance we will pass judgment on God. We will be tempted to blame God for what we see. We must look past the outer appearance to the center and see the original face. We must "walk by faith, not by sight" (2). This willingness to see on two levels enables us to get a glimpse of the Two Worlds, the Fallen World in its distortion of God's creation and the world as it was originally, and still is, under the distortion (but will become all it is intended to be when God restores it )(3).
There is much of the original beauty still in the world and in every person. When we judge someone because of how they look or how they act we go beyond ourselves. No one needs to judge another. Each person judges himself or herself. When I leave this earthly life and come into the total presence of God I will be judged by Him in the sense that, in the presence and power of His Absolute Love I will experience the comparison of the life I chose with the life God had willed I should have chosen. If my choices were made in conformity with the God-image He stamped on my original being I will be able to fully enjoy being in His presence. I will relate fully to Him. However, if my choices were contrary to His choices for me, contrary to my True Being which is made in His image in love, those choices will have moulded me and bent me away from His original blueprint and made me something unable to relate to God. If such a distortion could be justified in its own right there would not be a conflict but the suffering comes from the conflict between what I am meant to be and what I choose to be. The suffering is within my own being and when I come into God's presence it intensifies because God's loving nature calls to my original loving nature and the distortion cannot tolerate that call. Hell begins inside of me, with my choosing. If its fire is not quenched quickly it spreads and begins to consume the love God placed within me from long before time.
God has placed a program in our hearts called "The Sow and Reap Program" (4). Before we can live truly with others we have to live truly with ourselves. Each of us has a continual choice: I can be my own worst enemy or I can be my best friend. But I have to live with me, every second, every minute of every day. If we begin from this statement we begin truly. I didn't say we won't have hard times. We cannot escape personal anguish in some form or another. "Man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upwards" (5), "in this world you will have trials and troubles . . ." (6), but because we have such a loving God, He knew the mess we would come into, He worked His plan to get us out of it and as a consequence of that plan's success we are able to rise from this death-life called "normal" to a new risen life and in the words of a young man named Paul who declared he was taught by Jesus (7), we are able to live as " more than conquerors" over every conceivable calamity (8). That is the power of the new life unleashed in your new walk with God. That power will become your natural expression of who and what you truly are in Christ (9).
That way of life is not a reasoning way. It cannot be appropriated through human understanding or logic or " when I see it I'll believe it." It isn't an outflow from so-called "common sense." It is who we are, what we are, as God planned us to be (10). It is the expression and manifestation of God-life in our new True Life, affecting everything in our daily lives and around us in an amazing manner. I have good news for you, my friend. You don't have to stay in your prison any longer, whatever kind of prison that may be. I don't care if you are imprisoned in your mind, or in your emotions or in your physical body. I am not impressed by the mountain of chains binding you in poverty, heartbreak, disillusionment, family tragedy or whatever. Believe me - I've been there. Put a name to that which at this moment is the cause of your unhappiness and I say to you: JESUS CAME TO SET YOU FREE ! (11). He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is the True Creator God (12), and long, long before you ever became a gleam in your mother's eyes, long before He called any of the stars and the planets and this old Earth into being He saw you lookin' real good and walkin' tall. He saw, as well, the trouble you're in this very moment and He planned for you to hear Him right now, today.
So listen up and "Today, when you hear His voice, don't dig your heels in, don't harden your heart..."(13). He really does want to heal your broken heart and "break the ties that bind" (14). At the same time, and more importantly,though, He wants to free you from your old self, that "old man" (15), who has ruled in frightened and fear-filled control for too long - the you who always felt driven to take charge of your life, to "succeed" in the self-gratifying system of this stupid Fallen World. If you stop what you're doing and go aside and listen, not with your head but in your heart, in the silence you will hear, deep down, the Words you need to hear. You will hear Jesus, Who has waited so lovingly and so patiently,speaking those same words He spoke so long ago on the roads of Galilee,"Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."(16). So talk to Him. Tell Him how you feel. He's listening.
